Sony Xperia E3 Single Sim Review

My experience using Xperia E3 Single Sim

Overall the device is good, feels good in hand and provides enough grip unlike some devices which are difficult to hold.

It came with Android 4.4.2 and i updated to Android 4.4.4. the Sony UI great and much better than any other skin in the market.

Camera is good, battery backup is very good, it easily lasts 2 days on average use. In settings it is showing RAM 880 MB, i think 144 is reserved by system, instead of 1 GB as written on specs.

but like many people said limited storage, it comes with 4 GB, out of which we get 1.7 GB, the preinstalled apps takes some space so technically we only get 1.2 GB, which is very low for todays standard. you can move apps to SD card BUT the app only partially moves to SD Card. i am a app developer myself and i moved one of my 15 MB app, of which about 5 MB was still on device, 10 MB on SD. so approx 30% of app still remain on device.

Another thing i noticed is that even if you have SD card installed, the app by default install to device first, then you have to go to setting to move it. my older Xperia Miro with 4.0 ICE never had this problem. not sure how long i will use this device :( may be 6 months.

i have also used windows phone 8.1 and once you put a SD card, apps by default install to SD (you can also choose) and you can move apps from/to SD Card. More than Sony, it is a android problem. Not sure if it will get fixed in 5.0 update. If this phone had 8GB of storage then it would have been the best in its price range.

Another issue I found is its GPS (while using it on train), it takes a lot of time to connect. The Device only GPS most of the time doesnt connect or takes a lot of time to connect. To use GPS only way is to switch to High accuracy mode which uses combination of Google location service, network data and GPS to determine location, but that confuses some data and not suitable if you prefer to use offline maps like HERE Maps.

i would have given 5 stars if it didnt had the low storage.

I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
